When highly targeted heating is required, induction brazing can get the job done. Galaxy Brazing uses induction for smaller, lower-volume assemblies that benefit from close operator control over heat levels.
Induction brazing is a highly manual process. Galaxy’s technicians bring an average of twenty years of experience to induction brazing projects. Their experience helps Galaxy plan the heating sequence and joint approach around the specific materials and geometry of each assembly.
Induction uses an electromagnetic field to generate heat directly within electrically conductive material. An induction coil carrying alternating current produces a rapidly changing magnetic field, which induces circulating eddy currents within the conductive component. The electrical resistance of the assembly interacts with the eddy currents to generate heat.
In induction brazing, the coil is designed and positioned to concentrate heat around the joint. The operator adjusts power and heating time to bring the brazing alloy to its melting point, then monitors alloy flow throughout the joint.
The Galaxy Brazing team will advise you on when induction brazing is the appropriate process for your assembly. Examples where induction may the right approach include:
Galaxy works with customers early to determine whether induction brazing fits the materials, joint configuration, and service requirements of the assembly. Our team combines hands-on technical knowledge with responsive execution to keep specialized work moving.
Involve Galaxy early. We will work with your team to review service requirements, materials, and joint configuration to help identify the right brazing approach.
